Mark Mitchell, DMA

Mark has a doctorate in composition and is an expert pianist who has been teaching beginner to advanced levels for many years, not only those in Magrath but from Raymond and Cardston as well. He is one of the few certified RCM teachers in the area (in piano, theory and composition), meaning his students can register for conservatory exams if desired. However, he is flexible with style and often arranges popular music for students to play. While he loves teaching the children and teenagers, Mark commonly has several adult students as well, either upgrading their skills or starting from the beginning (he has had beginners in their 80’s!)

Mark also pursues an active career as a composer and arranger. He has had works performed by the Tabernacle Choir and several top Canadian choirs. He has worked for the past several years as an arranger for the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, and works for many musicians locally and abroad arranging, orchestrating and creating professional scores of their music. Many in southern Alberta will know him for his work in musical theatre, where he has had several original plays performed and has music directed many others. He worked in the 90’s and 2000’s in the game industry and has sound design and/or music credit on over 40 published games.

No need to wait for September – any time is a good time to start!
